Mediterranean Cruise on Carnival Magic - The After Story! 

For those of you that follow me on Twitter or Facebook I've been on a wonderful vacation since August 24th, when I left Des Moines and headed for Barcelona, Spain to catch the Carnival Magic for a 9 Day Cruise of the Mediterranean. In this post I'll share a bit about my experience on-board and at the ports.  This cruise is my 7th Carnival cruise in the past few years, and I have to say that this year was a bit of a unique experience between the ports of call and the crew/options available on the ship, all of which were very good things!  So without delay, here we go!

So I Missed My Plane Now What? 

For those of you that follow me on twitter you have probably heard enough about my "stranded in ____ airport" or "Yet another plane delay in ____" type postings.  We have all been there, you did everything you can do and now you are stuck in some random airport and you don't have any way to actually get back home.  Now, I'm not sure how many times this has happened to me in the past 3-4 years, but I know it has been at least 10 times and in this post I'll show you some helpful tips that I've found over the years.  Keep in mind most of these comments are specific to Delta as they are the primary airline that I fly.

Planning Travel: Prepare for Issues 

Over the last 18 months or so I have had the pleasure of traveling on a total of around 40 airplanes.  Why so many?  Well I do live in a location that requires a connecting flight to get almost anywhere, in fact my flight to Washington DC just a few weeks ago was the first flight that was direct in well over two years of traveling!  Given this, I have learned quite a few things around travel and how to prepare yourself to get to the destination.  In the end anyone traveling has one end goal; to get to the destination in one piece with all baggage intact.  To help make this possible I've come up with a few proven practices to help when it comes to planning for travel that can help prevent issues, or at minimum help delay the impact of issues.  In this posting I'll review some of these points.
