Hi,

I'm new in DNN, although I have a long experience in software devt, and some experience in web site creation and administration.

I installed DNN Community Version 5.02.03 on W 2003 with IIS 6 and ASP.NET 2.0 enabled, on a local server (server name is "dan"). SQLServer 2005 is running with a "DNN"database.

I have a default DNN site configured pointing to a virtual "dotnetnuke" directory in my default web site, whose local directory is the DNN install directory ("D:\CMS\DotNetNuke"). The alias of this DNN default site is http://dan/dotnetnuke.

Now I want to create another site with DNN, as a test for a future site. Logging to Host->Portals, I added a new portal with an alias in IIS on Port 86 (http://dan:86) (I have several sites running on this local server, and I have set the UsePortNumber value to true in web.config).

So far everything looks OK.

But I cannot see in the DNN interface any way to add pages to my new portal!

Clicking on the new portal alias only displays the content of its directory (i.e. \portals\1\) which are only gif files added when creating the portal. No default.aspx in view!

I've posted a question in the www.dotnetnuke.fr forum but I did not get any response which helps solve my problem.

The Superusermanual I bought from SnowCovered does not help either! it's very detailed but it's not a problem solver document.

Pleas help, I'm sruck

Thanks

New portals in DNN DO NOT require the setup of a new website in IIS. They are simply host headers or "Aliases".

Also, DNN does not support running some sites on a portal on one port and others on another.

Hi Mitchel,

Thanks for your reply

I've reinstalled DNN from scratch on my server as indicated in your tutorials.

I have created a new portal as an alias of the existing web site, on the same port (80).

It is accessed OK but I'm still confronted with the same problem : when I access it I do not have the DNN interface, only the site contents displayed. This is normal since I have not been able to add pages to that new portal within DNN.

How can I add pages to the new portal within the DNN default site ??? Or by any other way ?

Thanks,

Best,
