   Hi,
Is this the right place to post this ?
I am following the DNN Module Programming book.
I downloaded the BlankModuleWithDal and BlankNoDALModule and installed via the vsi. And the regular vsi from the 5.1.4 starter kit.
Figure 5-2, but I do not have "C# DNN Module Template" , did I miss something somewhere ?
   thanks

The C# DNN Module Template from the picture is actually the template provided by www.bitethebullet.co.uk. You can use the Blank Module template with dal from my website.

  Hi,

     I think I need documentation pertaining to VS2008, DNN 5.1.4 ?
     1) I created the project - it ask if I wanted to tie into IIS - I said no.
     2) I created a project under the DesktopModules.  But when I try to right click on the csproj, I dont get properties ? It comes up as just source. The project looks like its just another folder under DesktopModules ?
I made a project for something else a while ago, so I know what your talking to me about the properties comming up interactively ?
     Wonder if I missed a step ?

Let me be a little more specific.

I just tried to recreate the project with the BlankModulewithDal.
The location is under my dotnetnuke/desktopmodules where my other modules are.
I uncheck create a directory. and clicked OK,
I then get the message ....
"The local IIS URL http://localhost/mydnn specified for Web project MBS_Tracking has not been configured. In order to open this project the virtual directory needs to be configured. Would you like to creat the virtual directory now?"

I selected yes this time and got ....
"Creation of the virtual directory http://localhost/mydnn failed with the error" The URL 'http://localhost/mydnn is already mapped to a different folder location"

The project template setup expects you to have a setup with http://localhost/dnn as an DNN installation.

OK, here is what I did.
In VS2008, I did File, New, Project.
Visual C#, web.
I choose "DotNetNuke Compiled Module".

After I configured things, this is what I saw ....

(This is what I saw in the projectExtentions for GuestBookCS ...

This is what I saw in the projectExtensions for myProject ...

This is the major difference I saw (62596 )
Looks good to me - what do I know, but I am thinking I can move forward with the next steps to building the module ?
This book is excellent - I have read through chapter 8 and I cant tell you how much I see and how much I have learned. It is organized and explains things very, very well.
Thanks for your hard work - looking forward to getting my project ready for chapter 9 !!!

Guess this editor chokes on certain characters, oh well, that last post came out terrible, suffice it to say the projectExtensions in my csproj mirrors the guestbookcs csproj.
