Initial installtion was 4.6.2.  Upgraded from 4.6.2 to 4.8.2.  First I replicated the production site on a development box, preformaed an upgrade and everything went perfectly.  Then I went through the procedure again on the production install.  The upgrade went fine except one major issue.  DNN can not see any of the files in the /Portals/0 folder.  Logged in as either Admin or Host, none of the images display.  In the Admin Setting > Appearance > Logo, it states I do not have permission to view the files.  In the File Manager I can not see any files/folders under the root..

Any light you can shed on thsi issue would be great!

Thanks for the tutorials.  -Jeff

Jeff,

Have you tried to do a Sync from File Manager, be sure to have the recursive option checked as well.

Ended up restoring the site back to 4.6.2. Today I have attempted to perform the upgrade again. This time it went further, however now, whenever you click a link in the documents or announcement module, rather than bring up the file, it throws and exception error. I did a Sync with recursive and have restarted the application from the host settings. If I edit the instance of the announcement, I can select the correct file and save and it works as it should, however doing this for the entire site is simply not feasible. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Jeff,

it sounds like file associations were lost in the Files/Folders tables.

Sadly, if the file id's stored in the individual modules are no longer correct there isn't an easy way to fix it, at least as far as I know.

Thanks again for the great tutorials and response to my trials. Rolled the site back to 4.6.2 again. Duplicated it up to a dev server and performed the upgrade there with success. Strange, I have 2 attempts and 2 failures on the production server and 2 out of 2 sucesses on the dev server. Replicated the site from the dev server to to production and all is fine.

Have a great day.

Jeff,

When doing the upgrade on the production server did you get any "Thread Aborting" or "System Out Of Memory" exceptions?

Is there any difference between the systems?

Unfortunately I do not see any output when using /Install/Install.aspx. About 3 months ago I was doing a lot of skin development and installing often and I stopped seeing any output from installation.

Utilizing 4 servers total. 1 web/production; 1 DB/production, 1web/dev; 1db/dev. 3 are the same in hardware, Xeon 3.4, 3GB RAM. The db/dev server is a PIII with 2GB RAM. All run Server 2003, SP2. The web servers are setup identically as far as IIS and .net are concerned.

Thanks for the help.

That is really odd, I have heard of people with this issue, but have yet to find an answer.
