I have an active installation on a 2003 Server. I need to move the installation of the website and the Dotnetnuke to a 2008 server, but have encountered problems.

I move my database from one server to another by using the "Detach and Attach" method. I zip up the folder containing the web files and then unzip them on the 2008 server.

After many attempt, I still can not get my site up and running on the 2008 server. Has anyone performed this, and if so, do have any documentation or suggestions.

Thanks,

John

Personally I would backup the database and then restore it to the new server. For the site a simple copy works. You then have to update the web.config to show the new configurations.

I do have a blog post about moving a DNN site that should help.
