Breadcrumbs Hierarchy

I have a DNN installation with the following pages and structure:

 Home
- Weather
-- European Weather
Gallery
- Forecast Presenters
About Us

When I’m on the homepage ‘Home’ my breadcrumb is:
Home

When I’m on the ‘European Weather’ page my breadcrumb is:
Home > Weather > European Weather

When I visit the ‘Forecast Presenters’ page my breadcrumb is:
Gallery > Forecast Presenters

However a proper Breadcrumb Hierarchy would have the ‘Forecast Presenter’ breadcrumb as follows:
Home > Gallery > Forecast Presenters

I have tried changing the Home Page settings in Site Settings with no success. I have also tried hard coding the ‘Home’ link in the portal skin with no success as I end up with 'Home > Home' when I return to the homepage.

Would anybody have any ideas on how I could achieve this ?

In your scenario, you would need to move your structure to something like this.

Home
-Weather
--European Weather
-Gallery
--Forecast Presenters
-About Us

If in the breadcrumb you want everything to be under "Home", it must all be under home in the menu structure!

Mitchel,

Would it be possible to setup breadcrumbs.ascx to remove the page which has been set as the Homepage in the Site Settings. Then the link for "Home >" could be coded into the skin and then the breadcrumbs would be generated without the Homepage link as set in the Site Settings.

Just an idea..

Yes, you could do that more than likely by modifing the breadcrumb.ascx.vb file inside the core

I found / was told a more intutitive approach to this issue.

First open the template/skin file, then hard code the domain name as a link to the root of the website just before the start of your breadcrumb, include a nofollow link for Google.

Result:

You are here: MyDomain.com >Home

You are here: MyDomain.com >Weather

etc...
