I have read in bits & pieces at various places about install.txt & uninstall.txt files, and how they can be used for preventing deletion of certain files during module uninstall etc.

However, I am not too sure of their format, and how to use them.

Mitch, Can you tell me about all such files that are available for controlling module installation/uninstallation processes, what each is used for, and what format is expected for each file???

You can use install.txt files to remove file that you no longer need. You simply list each individual file on a single line with its path from the root of the installation. So to remove a test.dll file from the bin directory you could put the following into a 01.00.00.txt file

/bin/test.dll

If you have a .txt file you MUST also have a SqlDataProvider file of the same version, even if you don't have anything to do.

I am unaware of any support for an uninstall.txt
