Hi, I followed all the steps in your tutorial 'Installing DotNetNuke 4.8.3 Locally (non Vista)' to install dnn 4.8.4 using using Win/XP Pro, SQL Server 2005 Express. Everything worked fine, except when clicking the 'Click here to access your portal' link where I get 'You are not authorized to view this page; HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden Internet Explorer'. Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you added the Default.aspx in the documents tab of the IIS instance?

In the virtual directory settings, under "Directory Security", if you go to look at the box for anonymous access ensure that it is checked.

Hi, Michel, What you are advising is checked since initial dnn installation. Also, 'Allow IIS to control password' and 'Integrated windows authentication authentication' are checked. Thank you

Would you tell what to do to verify image access? Thank you

Simply try visiting an image that is part of dotnetnuke.

Something like.

http://localhost/dotnetnuke/images/edit.gif

Mitchel, I appreciate you taking the time on this issue. Yes, I tried accessing several images as you advised and the images are displayed in the browser. Looking forward on what to do next. Thank you

If you view the file permissions for the directory, which users have view permissions?

Out of my frustration/desperation I assigned all of the following users Full Control to the directory where DNNis installed: admin (HOME\admin - my default login), Administrators (HOME\Administrators), ASP.NET Machine Account (HOME\ASPNET), Everyone, Internet Guest Account (HOME\IUSR_HOME), and SYSTEM. Thank you

Is there anything further that can be done to make this installation work? Thank you

Inside the ASP.NET tab for your IIS Virtual directory, do you have V2.0.50727 selected?

Ok, without looking at your specific enviornment in detail I am not sure why it isn't working, there shouldn't be an issue based on the configuration you have described to me.
