I have fallowed the video tutorial for the installation of dotnetnuke 4.4.5 on a Windows Vista Home Premium machine. (Thank you www.mitchelsellers.com). I have fallowed the tutorial exactly except for database name, username, and password. As far as I can tell I am doing everything exactly as the tutorial says. I have the latest versions of IIS, SQL Server Express 2005 and SQL Sever Management Studio Express installed.  I am trying to install 4.8.4 because I can’t find 4.4.5. Could this be the problem?

It sounds like you have an IIS installation issue.

Open a command prompt (If on vista in admin mode)
Navigate to c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727
Execute "aspnet_regiis.exe -u" (without the quotes)
Execute "aspnet_regiis.exe -i" (without the quotes)

That should get you going!

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the effort. Unfortunately when I use Command Prompt in "Run as Administrator" I get this error...

c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727 is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

When I type it in "RUN" it opens the folder.

Sincerely

Bkricci

to navigate to a directory you must type cd before the file path that you input.
