Mitchel, thanks for the great video for installing on Vista. I followed it to the letter, the install appeared to work great. After all of the status items scrolled through the update with success, I have a "click here to enter your portal" or something to that effect.

Problem is, it continually redirects back to the root of \install.

Any ideas?

Thanks

-steve

Steve,

Glad that the tutorial helped you! For the redirection, ensure that the AutoUpgrade setting is set to false and try it again.

Hi Mitchel,

I am also having this issue. I have followed your great video to the letter just like SS and have checked my web.config file to make sure that AutoUpgrade is set to false and UseInstallWizard is also set to false. The database has been set up correctly and I can connect successfully using the connection strings. IIS is also set up as per your video, so I'm confused by this redirect to install directory. The error I'm getting is 403.14 Forbidden. Annonymous access has been enabled as has all users. Any ideas what might be happenin?

Mark

Are you on Vista? if so do you have IIS 6 compatibility installed?

Hi Mitchel, thanks for getting back to me. I have figured it out. The database that is created has a table called Portal Alias which contains the redirect to the default alias. When the database is created the alias is set as http://localhost/your alias/install. Simply edit this table to remove /install and the site loads correctly. Hopefully this post might help others having the same problem.

Mark,

Thanks for that information, I have noticed this a few times and I still don't know what causes it....
