How about an option to specify the icon file to be used for expanding and collapsing?  I can edit the expand.jpg/collapse.jpg files, but it would be nice if a different instance in a site could have a different set of images.  Alt text for the image would make the site more accessible as well.

Thanks for a cool module.

Heff

Jeff,

Great recommendation, I'll add the two following items to my roadmap, and get them done ASAP...

1.) Optional setting on the module level to upload expand or collapse images on a module basis.
2.) Additional resource key for alt text for both expand and collapse images

Version 2.0.1 includes the resource key for alt text....the ability to specify a expand-collapse icon is in the next version's road map!

Might want to change the default expand/collapse icon to the +/- ones used by DNN for the container maximize/minimize control.  It would provide consistency with the site and they're installed in every DNN install by default, you could use the standard location.  Then if DNN 5.0 would add those icons to the skinnable list...  <img src=" border=0>

Thanks,

Jeff

I will have to consider this one....

The big thing I don't like to do is to rely on a file that could be deleted. Items in the default skins/containers can be modified and removed...at the users desire, and if they are not using the containers in their site, they wouldn't know about the dependency.

If they were in the "images' folder of the core, I would be at lot more eager to make the change.

The ones I'm talking about are in the core images folder.  They are /images/folderplus.gif and /images/folderminus.gif.

Thanks,

Jeff

Version 02.01.00 will be released today and will use the default min/max icons from the DNN installation.

Hi Mitchel,

I installed the Expandable Text/HTML a few months ago and have been using it on one portal in the install..  At the time, I had found a posting on your forums on how to modify the setup and remove or hide the icon for expand collapse, which I did successfully.   Unfortunately, I cannot remember how it was done and cannot find the info now.

I had a need to use the module within another portal on the same DNN install, but when I loaded it, it had the images (I think I was on version 1.6 of your module)

Today, in installed the latest version of module.   The way I had setup the original site did not get changed with the upgrade, so the icon is still hidden, and this is great.   However, on the other portal where I just added the module, it has the +/- icon on it.  Can you tell me what I might have done to hide the image, and how to do it again?   I do not see any settings for this on the module.

Thank you.
Terence

Terrence,

This is managed via the Localization file for the view file.

There is a token for "Expandcollapseicon" in there, simply remove it and your display will update!

Thank you very much, that was nice an easy.

I also found how the other portal kept the original settings.  In the same folder, there is a file ViewExpandableTextHtml.ascx.Portal-26.resx  with a March date on it.   To keep the install clean, would you recommend this be removed?    If so, I guess I would have to  change something else that points to it.  If it is too complicated, I will leave it alone.

Thanks again,
Terence

Terence,

That file is the modified file that includes your modified values for a specific portal in your site.

If you make a change via Language Editor from inside the "Admin" menu. You will get a copy of the ascx file that has your change so it doesn't affect all portals.
