I am looking for a better Blog Module than the curretn DNN blog. You appear to be using Ventrian's "New Articles" as a Blog. Can you comment on what you had to do to make this work and what the feature differences are?

Are the social media kickit and Technorati Favorites buttons part of it?

Are all of the "blog linking" and ping bits part of it?

Dave,

Well, I can say that first of all I migrated to Ventrian's News Articles module after having a very hard time getting a needed solution with the core module.

When I first launched my blog I didn't do any customization to the blog. After a while I decided that I needed to make it fit with the look and feel of the rest of the site, after I created the skin that is currently used. So to do this I simply modified a few templates to basically take on the overall look of the container.

Then I made the modifications to add in the AddThis, DotNetKicks links, and technorati links.

If you want I can send you my templates.

I would love your templates. You have me email addesss I'm sure.  I waited and waited for DNN to upgrade the DNN Forum and last week I finally gave up on the core Forum and switched to Active Forum, which I see that you are using.  I have decided not to wait on the core Blog as well.

Does the News Article to all the required Blog linking (perm links, trackback, pings etc) and rss?

Dave,

I just send you the templates.

Yes, the lack of speed for updates of both the core forum and the blog module are what forced me to look for other options, along with a few other factors. I haven't been upset with my decision yet, and it has been almost a year for both.

News articles has perm links for all articles, supports trackbacks, and provides RSS Feeds. This is all out of the box, so it is easy to manage.
