DotNetNuke Open Force '07

My list of proposed sessions.

Session Name 1: Building a Module Using WAP, AJAX, and Web Services

Session Abstract 1:

This broad overview will introduce the WAP development model, AJAX support, as well as Web Service consumption within a module.  The module that will be created will utilize a public web service to obtain local weather information.  An AJAX timer will also be included to update the module's content every 2 minutes.

After attending this session attendees will be aware of the pre-requisites required for developing a module using the WAP technique with web service references.  They will also know the steps required to deploy a compiled and source version of their WAP module for installation into a DotNetNuke 4.5.x installation.

Session Name 2: Maintaining Development, Test, and Production Environments

Session Abstract 2:

This session will discuss best practices for creating and maintaining a solid development and testing environment to ensure that modules stay in sync with each other and that you have adequate testing time prior to deployment.  This will include recommendations on the implementation of the IPortable interface for data transfer and various tools and controls for synchronizing databases and files systems between installations.

Session Name 3: Emergency Recovery/Administration Techniques

Session Abstract 3:

This unique session will take attendees through various critical errors that can occur within a DotNetNuke installation and will show methods of resolving critical errors at the database level.

The topics covered will be as follows.

1.  Resetting Host/Admin password after password corruption

2.  Removal of LoginTab setting for a Portal

3.  Removal of offensive Forum Post information

4.  Resetting of portal skin

5.  Deleting a module

Each of these items can save administrators hours of time should they encounter any difficulties in these areas.  Full generic commented scripts will be provided for each of the above scenarios with a Q&A session regarding other desired database modification

Session Name 4: Creating and Packaging Skins/Containers

Session Abstract 4:

This session would be a basic overview of skin development for DotNetNuke.  During the session we would look at the two different methods for creating a skin package (HTML and ASCX based).  Demonstrations of each method and the packaging needed would be provided for a basic site template using the default DotNetNuke skin tokens.

After attending this session attendees would have working knowledge of skin packages and container packages and how they can implement their desired design in their sites.
