A while back I created a monitoring application for Pingdom Corporation called Pingdom Alerter. This application has been used by a wide customer base to monitor their site status on the Pingdom service. I am looking to find at least 3 individuals that have used the Pindom Alerter, created by my company IowaComputerGurus Inc. that would be willing to be a reference to state that the application works as described. The application can be found on the Pingdom Services Page.
If anyone can help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it as this is the final step needed for my business to attain Microsoft Certified Partner status. Please e-mail me at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com if you are willing/able to help.

This is just an update to regular visitors of this site, as of this morning Google AdSense ads have been removed from this site entirely. Due to a lack of control over these advertisements and the selection of advertisements that were included they have been removed.

To those that regularly look to this site for new information I wanted to quickly make a post here with some updates on the items I am working on that are of benefit to the community.
DotNetNuke Documents Module
Yesterday I submitted version 4.1.0 of the DotNetNuke documents module to the DotNetNuke release process. Sadly it failed the release process this morning due to packaging issues. I will be resolving them tonight and will get it re-submitted. Please visit my blog on DotNetNuke.com for full information regarding the changes that were released with that version.
Professional DotNetNuke 5 Module Programming Book
To update everyone on the progress of my book in progress, I have almost 25% of the book completed, and overall it is fairly well on track to meet all deadlines. At this time I am not yet sure on a firm release date.
New Modules
I have recently posted my first module for purchase, which is a generic external authentication provider which allows connection to an external database for user authentication rather than using the internal DotNetNuke database. Both installation and source versions are available from snowcovered.
Secondly, the long awaited update on the Quiz module is here. At this time, I have 90% of the quiz engine built and am trying to work in time between other projects to get the module out there. At this time, I anticipate September 15th, as the release date for the first version of the module. This moudle will be a free module!
Upcoming Blog Articles
Lastly, I have a list of articles that will be pubished to this blog in the next few weeks as I get time to create them, below is a quick-hit listing of the items.
- Review of BaseCamp Project Management Tool
- Javascript and DotNetNuke, how to make it work?
- Creating a Custom Authentication Provider
- Friendly Modules - Multiple Views without Isolation
- Using the DNN Objects with Other Data Providers
Each of these will be tackled when I have time, but it gives an idea of some items that are planned. As always thank you for following this blog, and if you have any comments, requests, suggestions feel free to e-mail me at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com.

To let everyone know I am aware of an issue that currently exists with this site and the navigation menu in FireFox 2 and FireFox 3.
I am working with Vasilis to identify why this has become an issue.

Starting this morning (7/15/2008) I have opened up the IowaComputerGurus Customer Support system to allow all users to register and submit issues. This is the new fast-track method to report bugs, or to request enhancements to any free module or content that is provided via my business website.
This applies to ALL DotNetNuke modules and other content that was previously available via this site. I have implemented this systems in hopes of providing a more streamlined process to handle bug and enhancement requests, this system is also the system used for any of my DotNetNuke Technical Support customers.
If anyone has questions please feel free to let me know.

I wanted to take a quick moment to let everyone know that there will be a small amount of downtime this evening as I prepare to upgrade this site to the most current version of DotNetNuke. As part of the process I will be upgrading the site skin, friendly URL provider, and moving some content around. As long as all goes as planned, tomorrow morning you should notice a nice new looking mitchelsellers.com!
Shortly after the update of the site I will be making an announcement that I personally find to be major! So be sure to stay tuned for full information!

As I know many people check this site on a regular basis to see how things are progressing on my various free contributions to the DNN community I thought I would post a quick "general update".
As many of you have already noticed I have been working the new website for my business IowaComputerGurus Inc. It has been a long process, but it is almost finished. All free modules that are currently available on this site will be migrated to the IowaComputerGurus site and will NOT require login for download. This change is being completed to more closely identify the free offerings as contributions by my business and not myself as they are worked on when the business does not have any current paid income.
I have also recently spent a bit of time solifiying a few of the free modules including Expandable Text/HTML and the Guestbook to make them as usable as possible. WIth the release of the Guestbook 3.1.6 I have completed the current upgrade process for the existing free modules. I am now turning my focus to the long awaited DNN Quiz module that I have been talking about for a while, I hope for a public first release here in the next few weeks. I will also be working to get new tutorials available via this site, and obviously the DNN Documents module 4.1.0 project is key for my duties as Team Lead for that project.
As always, I appreciate everyone taking to time to read this blog, use the content/modules available, and to provide me feedback. Also please remember, that donations do help keep some of these free items going, I want to take this time to thank each individual that has either donated time or money recently to the development of the resources available on this site.

As some people may have already noticed I am slowly migrating the 'Software' downloads away from this site over to my new IowaComputerGurus Inc. company website.
All modules will continue to be maintained and will always remain free!

I just wanted to publicly announce here that this week I have launched a new website for my company IowaComputerGurus Inc. It is now a DotNetNuke based site running a skin created by ThinkOfDesign.com.
This new company website is full of new information, including updated references and a portfolio.
Also coming soon is a new design for this site, to resolve some issues with the current site and to provide a more lightweight, functional display.

As many people may have noticed yesterday this site, and all other sites of mine that are hosted by this DNN installation were down for a little over 1 hour. The sites were displaying .NET error messages regarding a configuration issue. I had installed a new module and a configuration setting issue was identified, this has been resolved and I greatly apologize for the issues.
In other news I am now running the Snapsis PageBlaster 3.1.7 module which is providng better caching for content and after an inital review with NO custom configurations I have noticed average site load time reductions of over 65%. Look for a detailed review of the PageBlaster system here in the blog within the next few weeks.
Also, if you notice anything funny with this site, please let me know ASAP either with comments below, or via the contact form!

Today I have released an updated version of my Blank C# Module Without DAL. There were a few bugs with template token replacements with previous versions that were causing errors on build and exectuion. These errors have been resolved and have been fully tested. If you have the current version installed, you can simply install this new version and Visual Studio will ask you if you want to overwrite it, simply select yes and you will be set to go.
I have also released a new development template "Blank C# Module With DAL Classes", this is another blank module but all classes for DAL are there, you simply need to implement your methods, and start working on your module. This should be a welcomed addition to all regular module developers out there.
Please share any comments or suggestions for future templates in my Templates forum discussion.
